O ka ‘eheu ke ala ‘ula o ka l¯a. Original Painting (Sold)
New!!
I named this original painting, “‘O ka ‘eheu ke ala ‘ula o ka l¯a,” which means “the wing of the east sky, the rising sun” in Hawaiian. I began with the wrapping of the box frame with a simple string. As I wrapped it, I said a blessing in honor of courage, strength and peace for the people.
The painting took six months to complete. At the end, when all is finished, I cut the strings. I have to say that when I cut the wings, the butterfly was ready to be released. It was like releasing a bull in a china shop. She was ready. Reminds me of the light of the sun, at Haleakala’s breast.
Original butterfly painting on special texture, gold leaf and box frame. 43″ x 48.”
Photos do not do justice, this painting shows itself throughout the entire day in different spectrums of light and color. Magnificent in person. Xo
