About

Rachael Holton, an artistic gem, is known for her uniquely textured and deeply moving artwork. Originally from Genoa, Nevada, Rachael attended art school at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon and studied in the UK at both St. Martin’s College of Art and Lancaster University in 1999. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art and a Master's Degree in Museum Studies—specializing in exhibition and design—from San Francisco State University.

Rachael began her professional career as a Gallery Director in 2001, building and managing art galleries both in the Bay Area and Maui. Rachael was also the Curator of the exhibition, "Generations - A Tribute to Mothers and Daughters Around the World." The exhibition was backed by the International Museum of Women in San Francisco and the UCSF Medical Center of Excellence.

In 2014, Rachael retired from the gallery business and launched Rachael Holton Fine Art - a new line of artwork with her father, Steve Holton, a retired Builder and Project Engineer. Together, Rachael and her father have created a unique line of quality built frames and artwork in their studio in Haiku, Maui

In 2016, Rachael was selected as a resident artist in the Four Seasons Artist Showcase, and has been continually exhibiting and selling her artwork through the Five-Star resort.

Holton also self published her first book, A Humming Heart in 2017. A Humming Heart contains a series of extraordinary images of hummingbirds paired with a storyline of inspiring words describing the spirit of the hummingbird and its universal message. The book was designed to help inspire and heal those who are dealing with grief from losing a loved one.

Artist Statement

It's all about the texture! My intention is to create artwork comprising multiple mediums. My goal is for my work to resonate with each viewer in a unique and personal way. All things in Nature inspire me, and it’s the source for my work.

Detail is also a huge factor in my work. Some of my larger and more elaborate paintings take me months or sometimes years to complete. I consider myself a slow painter, but mostly I find it important to spend quality time with each painting to capture the essence, story and spirit of the piece as it evolves.

In loving memory and forever in our hearts, Steve (Papa) Holton

Rest your head, sweet child, on my shoulder of strength.

Let your hands relax. Let go of your grip.

It’s okay to say goodbye, it’s okay to cry.

Don’t be afraid, my love, you have my heart

always beating strong in you.

So lift those hands,

and make something new.

Make it for me, so I can be proud of you!

We’re in each other’s hearts, always and forever, my greatest friend, my rock, my sunshine. X0
