Sirin the Messenger – SOLD

“Sirin- The Messenger” is a one-of-a-kind painting on gold leaf and a professionally built box frame and wrapped in brushed aluminum. There are several layers to this painting, including a weaved texture underneath the gold leaf to create motion in the image. The hummingbird is a sealed pencil drawing, representing the swiftness and spirit of the messenger. Since the entire painting is layered with gold leaf, it’s color will produce gorgeous gold’s, reds, yellow and copper colors when the light hits it just right!

Sirin is a mythological creature of Russian legends, with the head and chest of a beautiful woman and the body of a bird. In the 17-18th century and according to myth, the Sirins lived near Paradise and they would often sing beautiful songs to the saints, foretelling future joys. They also symbolize world harmony (as they live near paradise). People in those times believed only really happy people could hear a Sirin, while only very few could see one because she is as fast and difficult to catch as human happiness. She symbolizes eternal joy and heavenly happiness!
