What’s a monotype?
The traditional definition of a Monotype is a single print taken from an image that is printed in ink or paint on metal, glass or acrylic.
Rachael’s monotypes are considered her prints, however they are a step far above ‘just a print.’ Each monotype is created just like her original paintings with a special hand made texture with a gold or silver leaf surface. Each image is printed on the surface of the texture and then re-enhanced with acrylic paint. Basically each monotype is repainted by hand. Rachael will spend many hours repainting each monotype to make them look unique and original! Xo
